eBay and McD's - Shutting Us Down

Hrmph....eBay removed my auction for McDonald's Monopoly game pieces. See my post here http://blogs.ebay.com/wendt90/entry/Beating-McDonalds-at-Their-Own-Game/_W0QQentrysyncidZ28540018QQidZ28540018. I noticed that they are shutting down ALL auctions of the game pieces. It's one major conglomerate protecting another. So, I'll post HERE....if anyone is looking for two of the four railroads, let me know and we'll work out a deal. Photo of the game pieces is here http://www.wendt90.com/ebay/McDsGamePieces.jpg.

Double-Blogging?

I just started a blog at eBay. http://blogs.ebay.com/wendt90

I'm not so good at multi-tasking, so we'll see how good I am at multi-blogging. :-)

Don'tcha hate when that happens....

I bought a PS2 game for my daughter....it said "BRAND NEW" in the title and description. However, when I got it (wrapped in paper towels), the box was obviously not new and in fact the CD had serious scratches on it. I wrote to the seller, but it's obvious he doesn't care. Now I'm torn with leaving neg feedback for him or just saying "lesson learned." *sigh* It's sellers like this that give eBay a bad name....

It's Raining, It's Pouring....

I took a break from eBay for a bit. Sometimes you just have to....but now I've got some of my own items listed and am now receiving phone calls from people who want me to list items for them. Kewl! Tis the season for listing on eBay...what with the holidays coming up. :-)

Spam-A-Lot

Okay, I'm seriously thinking about packing all of my email spam into a Zip file and selling them....someone should be making money from the spam. :-) Actually, I wonder if it's possible to spam the spammers....hmm...maybe go on an annoying website and register THEIR email address as wanting to receive information about EVERYTHING. Ahhh...I think I have a new mission.

1300

Woo hoo....I made 1300 in unduplicated feedback today. For some reason, that seems significant. It's not like my star changes color or anything (I need 3700 more for THAT to happen). But anyway....happy 1300 day!

Tip O' the Day

When you are bidding on something, decide what your bottom dollar is, submit it and walk away. Do NOT watch the auction end. Most of the time, when people get "sniped" - outbid in the last minutes of an auction - they tend to no longer care about the item...it becomes about winning - no matter the cost. To really get the best deals as a buyer, you need to just submit your final offer and let it go. Chances are there will be other similar items. Patience is definitely a virtue on eBay.

"Point of order - I didn't lose ALL the money. There was enough left for this cowbell. [rings it softly and the bell breaks apart in his hands] Damn you, eBay." - Homer Simpson

Inaugural Post

Welcome to eBay Diva, a blog by me about my eBay adventures.

I have been on eBay since May of 1998....when eBay itself was only about 2.5 years old. This was back before it was easy to list an item to sell...when HTML was the way to go. The very first thing I did was sell a Nintendo game. I actually sold items for a year before I bought anything. (I guess I didn't trust a website that you paid for something before you got it...LOL...altho, I took the money of buyers myself). ;-)

One of my pet peeves about eBay though is all of these people who have made tons of money and get all of the kudos for being such great eBay-ers. What about us little people? Huh??? The ones who have been around since the beginning and have stuck it out even when eBay got bad press? We sit idly by...selling our wares under the shadow of those people who scour estates and garage sales and truckload sales and then do multiple listings and become Power Sellers and open stores. I don't wish these people ill or anything....I guess I'm just jealous. I don't want to spend my weekends going to garage sales and estate sales and trying to find cheap items to make an extra buck on. I guess I like my life. My job. Working on getting my MBA.

Oh, another pet peeve I have....garage sales. What is up, people? You can NOT sell a garage sale item at an eBay price! People go to garage sales expecting to see items for 25 cents or a dollar - not $5+! Just because it will sell for that on eBay - a worldwide marketplace - does not mean that you can get that in SmallTown USA. Puh-leeze....either list the stuff on eBay yourself or sell it for a quarter.

[Deep breath]

Okay, I'm calm now....

DISCLAIMER: Now, before you go and start flaming me for my opinions on MY blog site, just remember that this is MY opinion and not the opinion of eBay or any other buyers/sellers on eBay. 'K? I have the right to express my thoughts just like everyone else.

So, that said...welcome to eBay Diva ... thanks for stopping by.
